Help for those who have problems with IT

Heading 1

Dear Students,

Now that we’re all working from home, we know that some of you are having difficulties because you do not have reliable computer equipment. We’re writing to let you know how we can help and the alternative forms of assignment submission we will accept.

Heading 2

  1. Although usually we ask you to submit assignments to Canvas as word documents, we are waiving that requirement for the time being. You can submit using a pdf, pages or other form of document. A pdf will always work, so if in doubt, save and upload your work as a pdf.
  2. You are automatically signed-up for Office 365 as part of your uni online credentials, and there are online versions of Word in O365 that you don’t have to leave the browser to use (i.e. as long as you have access to a web-browser you can use these). You might want to try this but we know that some students have struggled using O365.
The advantage of using O365 online is that your work is saved automatically, useful if your computer is unreliable.  It can also be accessed immediately from any device but you will need a consistent internet connection.

If none of the above suggestions will work for you, you must let your module leader know. We can help you find alternatives, support you to fix technical problems, support you with extensions or help you complete Serious Adverse Circumstances claims.

Heading three

Our aim is to ensure that as many of you as possible can complete your studies in this academic year. We want our level 6 and 7 students to be able to graduate and our level 4 and 5 students to be able to move smoothly to the next stage of their studies. We’re here to help you every step of the way, so please do get in touch and let us know how to best assist you.
